Holiday Shopping Season Generates High Volume on Cyber Monday

Amazon declares that the single biggest shopping day has been on Cyber Monday.

Smartphones were the best sellers on Cyber Monday. They contributed to almost 33 percent of sales which amounts to $3 billion.

Toys that were on the high selling list were Frozen 2, NERF products, Nintendo Switch, L.O.L. Surprise dolls, and Jedi Fallen Order. Samsung TVs, air fryers and Airpods were other products that were among the best sellers.

Other than smartphones, television sets were selling fast, especially as consumers could save almost 19 percent by shopping on Cyber Monday sales.

Heavy snow and rainfall helped to boost online shopping as people preferred to stay indoors, which kept them busy doing their shopping using the home office, through their credit cards. Adobe states that the snow had piled almost 2 inches high in various parts of the U.S. on Black Friday, as cold winds prevailed through various parts of the U.S.

Sales were especially high during the “golden hours” which was between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. ET on Cyber Monday. It was found that the peak hour of sale was between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m. ET, when consumers spent almost $11 million per minute, doing their shopping, which is an amazing lot.

Other online shopping days that were hectic were on Black Friday when sales touched a record high of $5.4 billion. This is up by 22.3 percent from the previous year, says Adobe Analytics, which keeps track of important web transactions in the U.S.

Sales on Thanksgiving Day were up by 2.3 percent, according to data released by ShopperTrak. Shopping crossed $4 billion, which was a record high on this day.

Adobe states that online shopping has touched $72.1 billion so far with consumers increasing every year. The holiday season which spreads between Nov 1 and Dec 1 is expected to touch a high of $143.7 billion this year.
